I would like to extend a very warm welcome to you and your child as they begin Year 10. I hope that you and your family had a restful and enjoyable break and are feeling refreshed and ready for the exciting year ahead.

Year 10 marks the beginning of an important stage in your child’s education as they embark on their GCSE journey. This is an exciting time, bringing new challenges, opportunities and responsibilities. I am very much looking forward to working with you and your child and supporting them throughout the year.

As a year group, the students have made a very positive start to the new academic year. It has been wonderful to see them return to school with such a positive attitude, enthusiasm and readiness to learn.

We have already spoken to the students about the importance of setting themselves personal goals and taking greater responsibility for both their learning and behaviour.

As a parent or carer, you play a vital role in supporting your child’s education. Homework will be set through Satchel, and students will also be expected to record their homework in their planner.

We would greatly appreciate your support in regularly checking that homework is being completed and encouraging your child to establish a strong and consistent work ethic.

If you experience any difficulties accessing the homework system, please contact the school and we will be very happy to provide support.

Throughout the year, students will have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of activities and experiences beyond the classroom. These will include enrichment activities, educational visits, charity events and non-uniform days.

I am very much looking forward to working with the Year 10 students this year. I hope they make this a year to remember and a year that truly counts.
