Football Activators
Barclays GAME ON has been developed by the Youth Sport Trust (YST) in partnership with England Football. Barclays GAME ON is designed to engage girls in curriculum physical education through a life skills approach, using football as the vehicle.
Programme aims:
- Increase the number of girls participating and enjoying football related activities
- Develop girls in leadership roles as Football Activators to create and deliver relevant and enjoyable opportunities for more girls in their school
- Support girls’ to transition into community football opportunities.
The curriculum training for the Football Activators will give them the tools to deliver extra-curricular opportunities to their peers and to develop marketing skills to help increase participation at Chadwell Heath Academy.
There are 13 girls from across K3&4 who have been chosen to complete the Barclays GAME ON – GO LEAD leadership training and to take on the role as Football Activators at Chadwell Heath Academy.

On Wednesday 9th March 2022 as part of the #LetGirlsPlay biggest ever football session our Football Activators were asked to attend an afternoon to celebrate girls' football at Frenford Football Club.
What is LetGirlsPlay?
By 2024, The FA’s and Barclays ambition is for girls to have the same football opportunities as boys in schools and clubs. #LetGirlsPlay is a campaign to drive influence and change perceptions, showing that football can and should be played by both girls and boys. It is bringing together a growing community of people of all genders, ages and backgrounds who want to champion equal access for girls, helping create independent, resilient young girls who will be a force for good in all local communities.
Our Football activators were asked to volunteer at the Primary tournament for Yr3/4 & Yr5/6 which took place prior to their tournament. This was a great opportunity for them to develop their leadership skills and they all acted as excellent role models on the day.
