GCSE Drama Monologue project

Year 10 GCSE Drama students recently completed a project with Papatango Theatre Company to learn about the art of writing a monologue.

Pupils participated in a series of three workshops, led by a professional playwright, designed to give them a taste of both playwriting and professional theatre-making. Students were taken step-by-step through the playwriting process to develop a character from scratch and to structure and write their very own short monologue. The scripts were then published as a printed playtext, with a copy for each student, and performed for the group in an online rehearsed reading by professional actors.
